An exciting weekend at Anglesey on the 26th and 27th November 2011 saw Keith Ashworth putting a fastest lap of 1.42.1 on the international circuit in his Caterham (Tracksport spec) during his second race. This time matches the fastest lap for

the Caterham Supersports that raced at Anglesey in September 2011. Brilliant Keith, well done!

The weekend also saw Alex Saunders, John Saunders’ son doing his first ever race after completing is Ards test with me in late August at Oulton Park. The races went exceptionally well for both of us with Alex absolutely beaming after every race, truly excited and looking forward to doing a few more races over the next few months. The Plumb pudding at Mallory Park on Boxing day comes to mind. Alex was running consistently in the 1.43′s in his dad’s Caterham Supersport (Tracksport spec) with a best of 1.42.4 which puts him right on the pace of the 2011 Supersport Caterhams. Well done Alex!

Patrick Scharfegger has been out of the race seat since 2006 and this weekend gave him the opportunity to race a Ginetta G40 for the first time. In the last sprint race I was able to overtake Patrick on the start and kept him well behind for the next 5 or 6 laps but I could tell he was not going to let me get away and eventually got passed 2 laps before the end. After the race he said he would not have been happy if I had beat him clearly knowing I was in a much slower Caterham Roadsport.

John also brought his new Ginetta G50 to Anglesey which he hoped to do both sprint races and the endurance race but unfortunately gearbox problems kept him out of the first race and the endurance, but

did share a drive with his son Alex in the Endurance race coming 7th overall in a Caterham mixed with some very quick Westfields, Porsches and Chevrons. John’s G50 was repaired and available for the second sprint race finishing a respectable 4th overall. Top man!!

A fantastic weekends racing for all with the view of a few more winter races in the next
